My husband wanted a waffle maker for Christmas, so here's a waffle recipe for said maker. Originally sourced from Classic waffles.

Waffles.

Ingredients for 1 batch, which makes four waffles.

  • 1 egg.
  • 225g self-raising flour (white or part wholemeal).
  • 250ml milk.
  • 50g butter, melted and cooled.
  • 15ml sunflower or vegetable oil.

Directions

  1. Put all ingredients into your mixer bowl and whisk together. (A hand blender is a bit small for more than one batch).
  2. Will keep in the fridge for another day but ideally stand for a least 30 minutes, think [Yorkshire pudding] or pancake mix.
  3. Pour into hot waffle maker - do not fill the mixture more than two thirds full - the self raising flour means it will rise considerably!
  4. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes.

Serve with a variety of sweet and savoury toppings. I like heated frozen mixed berries with whipping cream or eggs and bacon. My mum and husband like bacon and maple syrup.
