Mediawiki is not the only game in town, and I do run a private Twiki, but for ease and speed of publishing, few things beat mediawiki.

I use it to share ideas and generate content that tends to be more practical or scientific than my blog articles - a great case in point is my recipes page and its children.

When I have maths formulae to write up, the editing help I get in mediaWiki makes mathematical markup language easy to achieve.
