When I first bought a microwave, I vowed never to do chicken in it. As a child, I'd be subjected to my parents' experiements with their first microwave and thought, not for me.
This is very civilised, quick, and low effort. You end up with a steamed chicken breast. Tastes good for a quick meal with pasta, ratatouille, rice, or potatoes.
Microwave a single chicken breast
Ingredients
- A raw chicken breast.
- Seasoning (or other herbs for taste).
- Some water.
Directions
- Get a pyrex casserole with a lid or a cook and heat bowl and lid that allows the chicken breast some wiggle room.
- Place chicken in the bowl.
- Fill round the chicken with tap water, about a third of the way up the breast.
- Season.
- Microwave at 750W for 2 ½ minutes.
- Remove from microwave and flip the chicken breast in the bowl.
- Cook for another 2 minutes at 750W.
- Check chicken is a least 62°C.
- Stand for two minutes - by which time the chicken should be at 73°C.
Serve with boiled vegetables or salad and a starch of your choice.
