When I first bought a microwave my dad said to me, that's how to cook fish. Bit of water and the fish steams perfectly - the trick is not to over do the cooking. I use a microwave fish kettle to create the steam bath but cling film over a plate works if you don't have one.
Microwave steamed trout
Ingredients
- A whole trout per person.
- 30ml water or 15ml water and 15ml lemon juice.
Directions
- Put water into kettle or onto plate.
- If using the kettle, put in separator.
- Lay fish down and then cover with the lid or the cling film.
- Microwave on high for 2 ½ minutes (2 minutes 30 seconds) each fish. If doing more than one, arrange head to tail.
Serve with new potatoes, peas and horse raddish sauce. A delicious treat for one person.
If doing salmon steaks or other fish, think 500g of meat = 2.5 minutes in the microwave.
