Mediawiki is not the only game in town, and I do run a private Twiki, but for ease and speed of publishing, few things beat mediawiki.

This search engine does the usual web crawl, even visiting more sites than google, but the really cool pieces are the way it presente it answers and how it helps you ask the question.
 
For instance, I'm looking for a means of adding a firewire port to a MacBook Air (:-)): while Google gives helpful suggestions if you spell something wrong, cuil helps by autofilling the search text box.  The results are ordered (a similar algorithm to Google's) but the screen is full and there's an image along side each one.
 
It promises not to collect info on its users - which is something Google is almost proud of shouting about too.  While the results seem accurate, the UI is introduced by a black and blue front page - very anti-Google so far.  Yet the launch of Cuil has managed to wind its way through $25Million and while some competition for Google is not bad thing, the shear amount of money smacks of the mid-90's, http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/216198/the-week-in-your-words-cuil-crysis-and-hackers.html.

Beware though - a slight mistype and you could even up with a less desirable site for use this side of the firewall!
