Home made stottie bread.
Ingredients.
Yeast mixture.
- 2.5ml sugar.
- 15 g fresh yeast or 7g sachet of dried yeast.
- 2.5ml white pepper.
- 45ml tepid water.
Rest of bread.
- 175ml tepid water.
- 5ml salt.
- 400 g strong white flour.
Directions.
- Mix the sugar, pepper, and yeast in a jug with its water and leave for 15ml in a warm place, until it has become frothy.
- Put flour and salt in a big bowl and make a big well - when ready, pour in the frothy mix.
- Use a dough hook and need until glossy.
- Cover and prove for an hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat an oven to 180°C on the bread setting.
- Roll the bread into two rounds, 2cm thick, form a hole in the centre.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
