French baguette

This is a mix between a recipe from my bread maker instruction book and my microwave's recipe pages! Seriously tasty bread although you do have to cook elsewhere to get the french stick shape.

Compared to making the bread in the bread maker, this is about 2 hours quicker!

Ingredients

  • 2.5ml dried quick acting yeast
  • 250g Strong white flour
  • 15g Butter / 15ml seasame seed oil
  • 2.5ml salt
  • 150ml water

Directions

  1. Set breadmaker to "French - Dough".
  2. Put in all incredients and start. When complete (around 3 hours 35 minutes) prepare to put into the microwave.
  3. Divide the dough in half and shape into two baguette loaves.
The shaping is important. Long and thin will result in a baguette that looks like a French stick. The bread tastes delicious either way.
  4. Place the loaves onto the wire shelve, lined with greaseproof paper, place in the cold microwave oven, using shelf position 2.
  5. Select the convection programme (pre-heating) and set the temperature to 220°C. When the pre-heating phase is complete, briefly open the door and immediately close it again. Then set the timer for 10 minutes and finish baking the baguettes.

Serve with butter. Delicious with soup.
