Pasta cheese bake

Ingredients

  • 15ml butter
  • 130g spiral or other short pasta
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 5ml English mustard powder
  • 22ml plain flour
  • 225ml whole milk
  • 125g vegetarian mature cheddar, grated
  • 25g parmesan (or vegetarian alternative), grated

Directions

  • Cook pasta for 2 minutes less than the pack says. If it's fresh pasta, don't bother cooking first.
  • Preheat oven to 180°C for a fan assisted oven
  • Melt butter and add garlic, mustard and flour to make a roux (typically 5 mins of cooking)
  • Take off heat and add cheddar and half the parmesan.
  • Stir in pasta and tip into dish for baking.
  • Bake for 20mins at 180°C in fan assisted oven.
